If you want to impress your friends at your next dinner party, there are few better ways to do so than by serving some delicious caviar appetizers. A favorite of the posh and of the famous, caviar is indulgently delicious when used in these unique recipes.

Caviar Deviled Eggs

The saltiness of caviar is a wonderful contrast to the creaminess of the egg filling. Display these delicious deviled eggs on a glass plate for a beautiful presentation.

Ingredients:

  • 12 eggs, hard-boiled, cooled, and peeled
  • 1/2 cup mayonnaise
  • 1 tablespoon Dijon mustard
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1 tablespoon white vinegar
  • 1/4 cup of your favorite caviar

Directions:

Slice each egg in half, lengthwise. Scoop out the yolks, and put them in a big bowl. Add all of the remaining ingredients, except for the caviar, and use a fork or a pastry blender to mash the mixture until it is creamy and uniform.

Scoop the egg yolk mixture into a piping bag. Pipe it into the egg white halves. Top each one with a small spoonful of caviar, and serve immediately.

Caviar Cream Cheese Spread

Let guests spread this caviar spread on firm crackers or crostini. A crowd will surely form around the bowl!

Ingredients:

  • 8 ounces cream cheese
  • 1/2 cup creme fraiche
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice
  • 2 teaspoons onion, minced finely
  • 1 clove garlic, minced finely
  • 1/4 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper
  • 1/4 cup of your favorite caviar
  • crackers or crostini of your choice

Allow the cream cheese to come to room temperature. Then, add the remaining ingredients -- except for the caviar -- and stir to combine. Let this mixture rest for 1 hour in order to let the flavors meld and develop. Scoop the mixture into an attractive crock or serving dish, and top it with the caviar just before serving.

Smoked Salmon and Caviar Bites

Salmon and caviar are a natural pairing. Cream cheese and green onion balance the flavors in these bite-size treats.

Ingredients:

  • 30 small, buttery crackers, such as Ritz
  • 1/2 cup cream cheese
  • 2 scallions, sliced finely
  • 30 small slices of smoked salmon
  • 1/4 cup of your favorite caviar

Lay a piece of salmon on top of each of the crackers. Spread it with a small portion of cream cheese, and add a few pieces of green onion. Top each cracker with a tiny dollop of caviar, and arrange the crackers neatly on a serving plate. Serve immediately so the crackers do not get soggy.

You can buy caviar online for these recipes if it isn't available locally.
